JLS are by far Britain’s favourite new boyband, and on 24th July, Pontypridd will see them perform the way they know best – with pure energy, passion and commitment!
Oritse, JB, Marvin and Aston collude to offer a blizzard of showmanship as undoubtedly the most successful group of all time to enter the X Factor. It was in 2008 that JLS auditioned for the X Factor and came a respectable second, only being beaten by Alexandra Burke.
But it was prior to the X Factor that the group first found that their performances could WOW fans. After forming the boys gave all their time to rehearsals, polishing their act in blagged down time at the Dance Attic studios in West London. They arranged their own photo shoots and paid gigs which lead to them winning a best-unsigned act award.
JLS were born – the name of the group came from ‘Jack the Lad Swing’ which was a composite of their cheeky onstage persona and the US music genre New Jack Swing that had birthed their favourite boybands, Jodeci and Boyz II Men – but with a British twist!!!
Both their first two singles ‘Beat Again’ and ‘Everybody in Love’ went to number one in the UK Singles Chart, and in November 2009 the bands eponymous debut album was released and since then has gone triple platinum, with sales of over one million copies in the UK. ‘One Shot’ was the third single released and this too caused a stir with the British public, while ‘The Club is Alive’ is due to be released on 4th July, just in time for the Ponty’s Big Weekend 2010 concert.
So look out Ponty, 2010 BRIT Award winners JLS are coming, with their finely-tuned, polished and energetic songs, performed to what is likely to be a screaming reception from their loyal devotees and fans – the boys are primed and raring to go!
The Score are a super talented five-piece group who produce, write and compose all their own music. They blend, R&B, soul, hip-hop, jazz and pop. They play all their own instruments and have enough energy between them to light up Ponty Park.
The transatlantic group comprise of two sets of brothers: Cameron and Taylor Graves from LA, and Nathan and Sean from London. The fifth member of the group is Clyde 'CJ' Wilson who also hails from LA.
The Score have already worked with an array of artists including Basement Jaxx, Charlotte Church, Faith Evans, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lindsay Lohan, jazz legend Marcus Miller, Natasha Bedingfield, Omarion and Rhian Benson.
In March 2009 they supported Lemar on his UK tour and during the summer performed with the likes of the Pussycat Dolls and N-Dubz.
You can expect great things from this group in the near future, and Pontypridd is proud to welcome them to perform at this year’s Ponty’s Big Weekend 2010.
