Sunday’s open air concert in the Park, proved to be the most popular event of the overall weekend. Glorious weather saw thousands flock to Pontypridd to sample the comedy delights of Chris Corcoran, as well as the initial performances of Cor Meibion Pontypridd who kicked off the afternoon’s events. The choir were followed by the talents of 15-year-old local school girl Kadesha, an energetic performance from Daz and memorable displays from acclaimed singer-songwriter Mal Pope and daughter Daisy Blue. Go Audio then made their Welsh debut, followed by former Fame Academy student, James Fox who thrilled the crowd with his uplifting performance. Scottish star, Sandi Thom, then took to the stage and belted out hits, including chart toppers What If I’m Right? and I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker.
Finally chanting, singing and high demand welcomed the ultimate headliner to the event as X Factor contestant Rhydian Roberts was the man of the moment. Here Rhydian wooed the audience of young and old alike, ensuring Ponty’s Big Weekend 2008 was a massive hit as one of the greatest family events ever held in Pontypridd and the county borough.
